A Bear's Journey
With a love of reading my favourite stories as a young child were Aladdin and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Captivated every lamp was rubbed as I sought my own genie and small carpets were put through their paces – with I’m sad to say, no luck!
The outcome was a passion for travel seeking magical places, one of which is the Marlborough Sounds, South Island, New Zealand.
I’ve taken many photographs of the Sounds and combined them with paintings, pencil drawings and writing to create this story of my grandson Mishca, his bear and their adventures.
The Old Hands Understand
Typifying the quintessential South Island Kiwi man of his era, but with a love of poetry and story telling, the rich life of Rod Donald is captured in this book. His poems span six decades and epitomize the life style and experiences of a true man of the land and sea - 'a good 'Kiwi Bloke,' whose roguish sense of humour is found woven through many of his poems.
