SALLY AND TED'S ROAD TRIP - DAY 1.

Well, I'm back online! So sorry everyone—life's been hectic. Hopefully I'll have some time now to catch up with my blogging. Ted and I have been on a road trip marketing our book. We travelled over Arthur's Pass to the West Coast, Nelson, Takaka, Picton and then back down the East Coast and home to Timaru.

It was a beautiful day when we left, but cold and starting to rain by the time we hit the top of the pass. There were a lot of road works.

Once over the top we wound down through the lush bush typically found on the West Coast, where the rainfall is heavier (as we were discovering), it was pouring down. It was very different from the arid, but beautiful tussock country we'd driven through on the other side of the Southern Alps. Luckily by the time we reached Greymouth on the coast, the rain had stopped. We sold a few books, stopped for a bite to eat, then headed off to Charleston where we planned to spend the night.

The road was very windy (I kept to the left and drove carefully—accidents occur frequently on this stretch of road). The views were stunning and we stopped several times to take photographs.

The rain held off and we reached Charleston as dusk was falling. We headed straight to my brother's, tired after a long day driving. I had a treat in store for Ted the next day—but I will leave that story for Ted to blog about. Make sure you check his blog!
